1. Objective

This site is published by Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition of Belgium whose registered office is located at rue aux Laines 20, 1000 Bruxelles.
The purpose of this section is to inform you as to how we, in the capacity of Controller, comply with the General Data Protection Regulation, better known by the acronym “GDPR”.
More specifically, this section describes how we manage your personal data and ensure their protection within the framework of European Regulation 2016/679 of 27 April 2016 on the protection of personal data and their free movement, as well as relevant national laws and regulations.


2. What type of data do we collect?

It includes the following, for visitors who do not apply for one of the competitions organised by the Publisher:

• your IP address
• the date and time of your access to our site
• the language you chose to browse the site
• your identification details (first name, last name, title, e-mail address, choice of language) if you subscribe to the newsletter of the Publisher
• your identification details (first name, last name, title, e-mail address, choice of language, your organisation) if you subscribe to the press releases of the Publisher.

It includes the following, for visitors who apply for one of the competitions organised by the Publisher:

• your IP address
• the date and time of your access to our site
• the language you chose to browse the site
• your identification details (first name, last name, title, sex, telephone number, the address of your personal website, the links to your personal social media pages (Youtube, Twitter, Facebook and/or Instagram), postal address, e-mail address)
• your biographic details (date of birth, place and country of birth, nationality, teachers, diplomas, concerts/recitals, competitions)
• the dates of the treatments of your application file (creation, modification, validation)
• the payment method of your application
• the first name and last name of your personal accompanist(s)
• your portrait photo
• the copy of your passport or identity card
• every other information needed for the processing of your application

3. For what purpose do we collect your data?

We collect your data mainly to:

• allow you to access the site and use its services
• improve the services provided by the site
• facilitate communication between you and us
• keep you informed by sending emails, newsletters, information letters
• for visitors who apply for one of the competitions organised by the Publisher: this data is necessary for the various procedures of the Competition.

4. In what ways do we collect your data?

Most of your data is communicated to us either through you or as part of a past, present or future contractual relationship with you, your principal or your employer.

5. Are your data protected?

We maintain a strict privacy policy and take all appropriate measures to ensure that our servers prevent, as far as possible, any unauthorised leakage, destruction, loss, disclosure, use, access or modification of your data.

We retain your data as long as necessary for the fulfilment of the objectives pursued and/or according to the legal constraints. Once these objectives are achieved and/or the legal constraints no longer applicable, we delete them by anonymisation.


7. What are your rights and how can you exercise them?

For visitors who do not apply for one of the competitions organised by the Publisher: you may request to check, access, rectify, delete, transfer and oppose the use of your data, as well as request the limitation thereof at any time. For visitors who apply for one of the competitions organised by the Publisher: the candidates have the right to view their data. They can have their data amended, deleted or refuse permission for its use once the competition in which they participate, has ended. In this respect they must send a written request to info[a]queenelisabethcompetition.be. We will then make every effort to do what is necessary as soon as possible.


8. Who has access to your data and to whom are they communicated?

For visitors who do not apply for one of the competitions organised by the Publisher:
Our employees and subcontractors. They have access to the data only to the extent necessary for the achievement of the objectives pursued above. Each of them is subject to a strict obligation of confidentiality.
Of the visitors who apply for one of the competitions organised by the Publisher the following information is made public: family name, first name, date of birth, place of birth, nationality, biography, photographs, the address of your personal website, and the links to your social media pages. The unpublished information is not transmitted to third parties.
Our employees and subcontractors have access to the data only to the extent necessary for the achievement of the objectives pursued above. Each of them is subject to a strict obligation of confidentiality.


9. Do we transmit your data outside the European Union?

Your personal data are hosted in a European Union country, and are not transmitted outside the European Union.


10. What is our policy regarding data concerning minors?

Our site is not intended for children under 18 years of age. If you learn that your minor child has provided us with their personal data without your consent, contact us at the following address: info[a]queenelisabethcompetition.be.


11. What happens when there is a policy change?

If we are required to change this policy, we will notify you using the most appropriate means, including email, our website or other means of communication.


12. What to do in case of dispute?

In the event of a dispute between us, we give preference to dialogue and openness for finding an amicable solution. If no amicable agreement is reached, the Belgian law is applicable and the French-speaking courts of Brussels shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
