Sooyeon Lee is a graduate of the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna, where she was taught by Beverly Blankenship and Peter Marschik. She went on to further studies under Gabriele Fontana and Edith Lienbacher. She won second prize and the audience prize at the ARD Music Competition, where she performed with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks. She is also a laureate of a number of other competitions, including the International Music Competition Berlin, the Gian Battista Viotti International Competition, and the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg. In 2014, she gave a solo concert as Kumho Young Artist in Korea. She has also sung Brahms’s Liebesliederwalzer at a lunchtime concert with the Berliner Philharmoniker. Her operatic roles have included Gilda in Rigoletto in Korea and Adele in Die Fledermaus at the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn.
