Born into a family of musicians, Ji Yoon Lee studied at the Korea National University of Arts under Nam-Yun Kim before moving to the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, where she is currently studying for a master’s under Kolja Blacher. Second laureate of the Pablo Sarasate International Competition in 2011, she won the Moscow International David Oistrakh Competition in 2013. She has taken part in master classes with, among others, Ana Chumachenco, Zakhar Bron, and Pinchas Zukerman, and has participated in the Kronberg Academy in Germany and the Verbier Festival Academy in Switzerland, where she received the Hahnloser Prize. Ji Yoon Lee has performed with a number of orchestras, including the Navarra Symphony Orchestra, the Korean Symphony Orchestra, and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and with ECCO. In 2015, she won the Windsor Festival International String Competition, which will lead to her debut with the Philharmonia Orchestra under the conductor Jac van Steen.
