In December 2012, the Queen Elisabeth Competition organized a composition competition with the aim of selecting the unpublished compulsory work for piano and symphony orchestra for the final of the 2013 Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition.

French composer Michel Petrossian has won the Queen Elisabeth International Grand Prize for Composition 2012 with his concerto for piano and orchestra In the Wake of Ea. The prize of eur 10.000 was presented by the SABAM.

The work was performed at the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts (Palais des Beaux-Arts) by the twelve finalists of the piano competition during the week of 27 May to 1 June 2013. They were accompanied by the National Orchestra of Belgium, conducted by Marin Alsop.

The twelve performances were broadcast live on radio, television and internet. You can listen to them in the media library of the website. The work has been released on CD.
