VIOLIN 2015 : Laureate
After training in his homeland, William Ching-Yi Wei went on in 2012 to studies, in which he is still engaged, at the Juilliard School in New York, under Kang Hyo and Lee I-Hao. In 2012, he won the Taiwan National Competition; he went on to win the Thomas and Evon Cooper International Competition in Cleveland in 2013, which gave him an opportunity to perform with the Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Hall. He also won First Prize in the Concerto Competition organised by the Juilliard School. A keen chamber musician, he has taken part in the New York Symphony Chamber Music Program and has also performed in string quartets at Carnegie Hall (New York).
