VIOLIN 2015 : Laureate
After training at the Mozarteum in Salzburg under Harald Herzl, Thomas Reif is currently studying at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg, in Tanja Becker-Bender’s class. He won the Ruggiero Ricci competition in Salzburg (2009), the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach (Austria) (2010), and the Elise Meyer competition in Hamburg (2012). In 2013, he was Third Laureate of the Leopold Mozart International Violin Competition in Augsburg. Thomas Reif has taken part in master classes with Midori, Vadim Gluzman, Igor Ozim, and Rudens Turku. A regular guest of the Münchener Kammerorchester and of the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, he has also performed with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester. He made his debut at the Mozart Festival in Salzburg, with Douglas Boyd as conductor, in 2012, the same year in which he received the Ian Stoutzker Prize, awarded in memory of Yehudi Menuhin.
