SINGING 1992 : Ninth Prize
The Belgian coloratura soprano Catherine Vandevelde studied at the Antwerp Conservatory. Her national and international prizes have led to engagements in her native country (notably at the Flanders Festival), as well as in the Netherlands, France, Germany and Great Britain.
She has performed with, among others, the BRTN-Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Flanders Philharmonic Orchestra, I Fiamminghi, the Collegium Instumentale Brugense, and the Royal Chamber Orchestra of Mons. Catherine Vandevelde has recorded the works of Delibes, Mozart,Sternefeld, Strauss, Mortelmans and Offenbach for various radio and television stations, and has two CD recordings on Erato and Impuls. Her repertoire ranges from baroque to the most contemporary, from opera to Lieder and oratorio. Catherine Vandevelde teaches at the Bruges Conservatory.
