Carlo Franci has worked at most of Italy’s great opera houses, including La Scala Milan, the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, in Rome, Florence and at the Arena di Verona. Work outside his home country has included concerts with the London Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Orchestra, Vienna Philharmonic, Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchester. Carlo Franci has been a regular guest at Oper Frankfurt for decades - most recently for concert performances of Catalani’s La Wally and the first run (2007/08) and subsequent revivals of a new production of Don Carlo. He has conducted more than 90 performances at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Other engagements in the USA led him to Boston, Cleveland, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Detroit and Dallas. He was also a regular guest in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Mannheim, Vienna, Madrid, Barcelona, Zurich, Tokyo, Seoul, Caracas, Rio de Janeiro, Singapore and Johannesburg. He was Chief Conductor of the Transvaal Philharmonic Orchestra in Pretoria from 1990-1997. In tandem with his career as a conductor Carlo Franci has been acknowledged as a fine composer.
