English soprano Elizabeth Bailey has graduated from The Guildhall School of Music & Drama (London) in 2002 and continued onto a one year Post Diploma in Vocal Training. In July 2005 she completed a two year Opera Course.
Elizabeth’s most recent Operatic roles include Queen of the night (Die Zauberflote) for L'Opera de Geneve, Oscar (Un ballo in maschera), Elvira (L'Italiana in Algeri), Guadalena (La Perichole) Lausanne Opera,Wanda (La Grande Duchesse de Gerolstein) Folies lyrique, Princesse (Le chat botté) Lausanne Opera, Fortune (Guiliver, a creation by F.Cattin), Blondchen (Die Entführung) Opera de Baugé, Contessa di Folleville (Il Viaggio a Reims) in the Opera houses of Bordeaux, Marseille, Montpellier, Nancy, Toulon. Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro) Lausanne Opera, Rosina (La finta Semplice) and Monica (The Medium) for Fribourg Opera. In the summer of 2006 Elizabeth sang the roles of Crobyle (Thais/ Massenet) for Grange Park Opera and Ernestine (Monsieur Choufleuri). Other roles include Barbarina (The little Green Swallow, Dove), Thérese (Les Mamelles de Tiresias, Poulenc), Lucia (The Rape of Lucretia, Britten), Philine (Mignon, Thomas).
In the summer of 2003 Elizabeth worked in the Glyndebourne Festival Opera in the productions of Le Nozze di Figaro and Die Fledermaus and in 2008 she attended the Academie d’Aix-en-provence. Her oratorio repertoire includes Handel’s Messiah, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Brahm’s Requiem, and Mozart’s Mass in C minor, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and Mendelssohn’s Elijah. She recently performed Haydn's Nelson Mass with the prestigious choir Les Elements in Toulouse and performed Mozart concert arias in a series of Concerts with L'orchestre des pays de Savoie with conductor Nicolas Chalvin.
Elizabeth has competed in many international competitions. Most recently in 2009, she was a finalist in the prestigious Operalia, semi-finalist in the ARD and Mirjam Helin Competitions. In 2008 she was a Laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels and won the Jacques Stehman Audience prize. Elizabeth was also a finalist in the 2008 Francisco Vinas, Geneva Competition in 2007 and at the first International Competition in Strasbourg in 2007. Elizabeth won the “Menuhin festival prize” in the first Swiss International singing competition in Bern 2006 and she was also a finalist of the prestigious Toulouse International singing competition the same year. In November 2005 she won first prize Opera and second prize Melodie at the European Competition of Macon, France.
