Rules of the 2024 Violin Competition

18/07/2023

From 6 May to 1 June 2024, the Competition will be dedicated to the violin. Violinists interested in participating, can now consult the requested repertoire, the entry conditions and read more information about the competition rounds in the rules of the 2024 session.

Online application : opens in October or November 2023
Application deadline : Wednesday 29 November 2023 12:00 (noon) GMT
Age limit : The candidates are aged at least 18 and have not yet reached the age of 31 on 31 December 2023 (i.e. they must be born after 31 December 1992 and before 1 January 2006).
As the 2020 Piano Competition had to be postponed to 2021, the following cello, voice and violin competitions have also been postponed. Exceptionally, the upper age limit for candidates for these three sessions has been raised by one year, in order not to disadvantage the young musicians already preparing. The usual upper age limit for the violin competition is 30 years.
Competition timeline : The participants have to be available from 2 May 2024 (arrival day) until 28 June 2024 (last concert in the concert series organised by the Competition). They will receive the complete list of concerts that are offered to the laureates upon their definitive acceptance.

The applications will be done entirely online, through the 'APPLY' section of our website.

These rules were published in February 2023. In July 2023, article 28 concerning the technical requirements for the recording of the videos for the preselection was adapted. Consult this page to find out more about these requirements.
