05/03/2020 We are delighted to announce the 74 talented young pianists admitted to the 2020 Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition, which will take place from 4 until 30 May in Brussels.
74 candidatesWe count 58 men and 16 women, representing 19 different nationalities. Discover their names in the pdf-document below or find out more about each of them on their candidate page.
PreselectionNo less than 331 applicants between 18 and 30 years old have taken their chance to apply. Each of them had recorded four works for the video preselection round : a prelude and fugue from the Well-Tempered Clavier by J.S. Bach, a sonata by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, or Schubert, a Chopin étude and a work of the candidate's choice for solo piano.
Preselection juryThe 74 participants were selected by Frank Braley, Jean-Philippe Collard, François-Frédéric Guy, Daejin Kim, Momo Kodama, Aleksandar Madzar, Jan Michiels, Liebrecht Vanbeckevoort, Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden, Elisso Virsaladze en Boyan Vodenitcharov. The
names of the jury members of the public rounds have also been announced.
ReservationThe order in which the candidates will appear in the first public round will be announced after the drawing of lots, on Friday night May 1st.
